I: From the Deepest Depths
A young Dakba, the first of his kind in a thousand years since their exile, attends the world’s center of education, Coldlawn College. Driven by an insatiable curiosity, he finds the people above have not yet quite lost their fear and dislike of his people. He discovers, too, that the history he was taught does not match that which is taught above. Faced with growing distrust among others, and the responsibility of representing his kind in good will, a young Darynn Ariso learns how very difficult it is to rise from the ashes, if one can at all.

II: Stand, Ye, as Paladin
In the Human kingdom of Wandolar, a string of accidents lead to the discovery of a horrific substance. Dubbed the "serum," it mutilates all that it touches. Tasked with its investigation is a young Frederick Richardson, fresh out of college and well on his way to knighthood and eventually the highest honor of them all: Paladin.
Frederick, however, is different than other royal guards. When evidence of Dakba origin appear to connect the serum to their still-insular race, he remains skeptical. As his task becomes an obsession, Frederick discovers that right and wrong may be clear, but those that are meant to uphold those values are often not. He also re-learns that doing the right thing comes at a cost.
